Playmobil has announced a series of ambitious sustainability goals and a new line of eco-friendly sets will be introduced in 2022.
The Horst Brandstätter Group, owner of Playmobil , has set itself ambitious sustainability goals, with which it will increase its efforts to protect the environment and the climate. The group has already committed to being climate neutral by 2027, is involved in offshore renewable energy sources and is investing around €50 million in climate protection in the coming years. Now Horst Brandstätter Group has announced that by 2030 its business models, including Playmobil's, must become as circular as possible by continuously improving the environmental balance across the entire value chain.
Steffen Höpfner, CEO of the Horst Brandstätter Group, said: “With a wide range of activities, we support the reduction of global emissions and thus the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to well below two degrees Celsius."
Playmobil's product highlights for 2022 show how the company is already acting sustainably. The new theme "Discover the Planet", which is being launched this year with an extensive, newly developed product range, consists of an average of 80% sustainable materials , including post-consumer recycled materials and bio-based plastics. A large portion of post-consumer materials include recyclate obtained from discarded refrigerators. The brand also remains true to its heritage and reputation in the toy world: Discover the Planet offers the proven Playmobil quality that consumers know and love and, like all of the company's products, is highly durable.
The colorful play world, which will be on the shelves of 2TTOYS in July, invites children to discover what it is like to grow up in a world where animals and nature are valued and protected. It provides important knowledge in a fun and playful way and allows children to discover a detailed, exotic animal world at home. Children can play with, learn about and collect different Playmobil figures of people and animals from all over the world and discover the Amazon rainforest, which is vital to the ecosystem. The packaging is made from almost 100% recycled cardboard and the building instructions are printed on 100% recycled paper.
