Color association game with LEGO® bricks

In this activity you will discover why learning with colors can be really useful for children of all ages.

Steps

STEP 1

It's time to play!

A pile of LEGO bricks

Sit in a circle and empty a box of brightly colored LEGO® bricks into the middle of the group

STEP 2

Blue bananas?

A stack of blue LEGO bricks

Go around the circle and name different types of fruit. For each piece of fruit, find a stone with the color with which the children associate that fruit and place it in front of them.

STEP 3

So many colors!

A pile of LEGO bricks

Ask everyone to share the colored stones they have and discuss why they might have different stones. What were they thinking?

STEP 4

Can you build that?

A LEGO pear

See if you can make a fruit from the stones you have. Can't think of anything to make? Then think of a new type of fruit!

Something to think about

Remember that there is no right and wrong here and the children should not correct each other. One child might think of a red apple and another a green apple.
