Highland Cow, Scooby-Doo and the Greek holiday have been chosen for the LEGO Ideas Review

In the last week of March 11 to 17, 2024, three more designs were included in the LEGO Ideas Review. The Highland Cow, Scooby-Doo and the Greek Holiday managed to collect the necessary 10,000 votes from the LEGO Ideas Community and will now enter the first review phase in 2024 as the 31st to 33rd models. Even though we won't know until the autumn which designs from this phase were convincing, let's take a look at the models!

Highland cow

Facts about the design

  • Title: The Highland Cow
  • Fan Designer: Stormpathes
  • Days: 218
  • Minifigures: 0
  • Number of parts: approx. 400

The iconic 'Highland Cow' is a globally loved symbol of Scottish culture. The Scottish Highlander, also known as Kyloe, is a breed of domestic cattle and the oldest recorded breed of cattle (1884). Despite the technology, this LEGO model of the Scottish Cow shows the typical long-haired, fluffy coat of the cute cows. The upright horns and the plush tip of the tail are also a must.

Animal models always make it into the LEGO Ideas review. Unfortunately, they are rejected almost as often. An exception is the Cat model, which is currently in the development phase, so we can expect it this year. But I doubt we'll get a Scottish highland cow either. Even though I think both the real Highland cows and the idea of a LEGO model are really cute, I don't think the set will get made. The design actually reminds me more of wicker patio chairs from the 70s than long-haired cowhide.

Scooby Doo

Facts about the design

  • Title: Scooby Doo! And the Ravenwood mansion
  • Fan Designer: Tobnac
  • Days: 45
  • Minifigures: 13
  • Number of parts: approx. 2,500-3,000

Scooby-Doo and Mystery AG are once again on a secret mission, trying to uncover the ghosts and horrors. Although LEGO itself has released a few Scooby-Doo sets, there is still a huge haunted house that can be used as both a play and display set. The special Ravenwood Mansion is a combination of castle, country house and medieval house, which means that many different details can be found on the facade and roof.

On the left side of the house, a rose bush grows over the wall of the tower to create a dark atmosphere. The separate tree with the crypt statue also contributes to an eerie and creepy atmosphere.

The house itself is completely open at the back and is characterized by several play elements, such as the rotating fireplace with hidden opening, the movable walls and floors or the hatch in the right watchtower. In addition to the Mansion and Mystery AG with Scooby, the set also contains some creepy minifigures.

As the fan designer himself mentioned, there were already some Scooby-Doo models released through the separate Scooby-Doo themed series in 2016, such as LEGO 75900 The Secret of the Mummy Museum, LEGO 75901 Adventure in the Mysterious Plane, LEGO 75902 Mystery Machine, LEGO 75903 Haunted Lighthouse and of course the LEGO 75904 Haunted Castle.

There are also two Scooby-Doo models of the well-known Mystery Machine on LEGO Ideas. The second model of the car is currently under review. While I find the Ravenwood Mansion building very exciting to look at from the front, I don't think we can expect a new Scooby model.

Greek holiday

Facts about the design

  • Title: Greek holiday
  • Fan designer: ponuryy
  • Days: 402
  • Minifigures: 2
  • Number of parts: approx. 1,500

The warm sun hitting the skin, the sweet scent of the flowers and the sound of the waves lapping against the shore in the distance. Time for a holiday in Greece! But for everyone who does not have the opportunity to go there now: simply enjoy Greece at home, with a small replica of a Greek house.

The house is built in traditional Greek architectural style and decorated in the iconic colors of blue and white. The house consists of a kitchen, a small bedroom, a toilet and a bathroom. Access to the interior is gained by opening the rear of the house. Outside there is a small flower garden and a pergola with vines and a terrace underneath. In front of the building there is an impressive staircase and an asymmetrical stone floor. At the back of the house there is also a sheep/goat coop and a chicken coop.

“Greek wine is like the blood of the earth. Come on, pour yourself a drink”, because a holiday in Greece also includes good wine and a good atmosphere. I think the design of the house is very beautiful, especially the stairs and the stone floor are an absolute eye-catcher. Although LEGO always rejects house models, the Twilight Cullen House made the cut. I am curious whether this model can also convince with the color scheme and details.
