LEGO introduces a new interactive brick!

LEGO has developed an innovative interactive brick with sensors, light and sound. This brick is intended to make the sets more interactive. The company is looking for 1,000 families in the UK to test the new system, with the trial period running until 21 September 2024. Bricks with sound and light already exist, such as in the

sets, but this is the first time these features are offered together in one brick.

Three LEGO City sets have been designed to work with the interactive brick, but of course we can't reveal those numbers yet.

  • The interactive stone is not only able to emit light and produce sounds, but also reacts to movements.
  • The way you hold, tilt or turn the stone affects the light and sound effects.
  • It appears that there is an RFID reader built into the brick, which can scan special 2x2 tiles. These tiles can relay information to the brick, such as the type of vehicle it is in or the presence of an interactive minifigure.
  • The latest addition is likely to be a color sensor. The product photos show various crystals in vibrant colors, suggesting that these can also be detected by the interactive stone.
  • The stone is the size of a 2x4 stone and has a transparent top through which the built-in LED lights are visible. The system has a battery that can be charged wirelessly with the supplied charger.
