LEGO Ideas entries 26-5-2024

The first review phase 2024 on LEGO Ideas ended in early May and we are therefore introducing the second review phase 2024 with three new designs: the Claw Machine, Wallace & Gromit and the Pioneer CDJ. New judging phase, old rules: a design must collect 10,000 votes from LEGO Ideas members to be included in the judging.

At the end of the review phase, which runs until early September 2024, the LEGO Ideas design team will meet to decide which Ideas sets we will find on LEGO Store shelves in the future. Let's take a closer look at the first three designs!

Claw Machine

Facts about the design

Title: Claw Machine
Fan Designer: 2A2A
Days: 387
Minifigures: 3
Number of parts:
Claw machines are very popular among children and adults all over the world.
You can find them at fairs and in arcades. Insert a coin and you'll get the chance to grab that cute toy you've been craving. The LEGO Claw Machine contains LEGO mini toys such as cute dinosaurs, robots, aliens, cats, etc. and minifigures as prizes. The coin-operated control panel is compatible with classic gold LEGO coins.

Two motors are hidden in the base. Each motor drives a shaft column via a pair of bevel gears. The columns transmit the torque to the XY platform, which is hidden in the upper part.
The platform has two movable axes. They are all driven by a worm gear.
The claw is pushed by the beams on both axes so that the intersection determines its position. The Claw Machine is still being revised because it cannot yet grip smoothly.

Facts about the concept

Title: Wallace & Gromit – A great day out
Fan Designer: Vaicko
Days: 283
Minifigures: 2
Number of parts:: 1,040

This design is based on the first short film of the iconic duo Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out from 1989. It features the three characters Wallace, Gromit and the robot Cooker. The set consists of three scenes

The spaceship comes with a base and a ladder for ascent. Inside is a cabin for Wallace and Gromit, with details and clues about their next adventures. On the outside it has two printed windows; the right window can be exchanged for an alternative print with Gromit on the cockpit. There are additional prints around the rocket ship, such as the license plate and some construction details.

I think the idea is really cute. Wallace & Gromit is definitely a classic with many films and even some video games. No set from the cult duo has been released yet. There have already been two designs on LEGO Ideas, both of which were rejected. Once the home of Wallace & Gromit and a bunch of figures. I'm curious whether this set has a better chance of a positive review. However, I don't think we should expect an Ideas model.

Pioneer CDJ

Facts about the design
Title: Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus Multiplayer
Fan designer: Tomasso
Days: 338
Minifigures: 0
Number of parts: 2,628
The Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus is the large, high-quality instrument of most DJs around the world. It is seen as a new age classic with which DJs play the best music and mix their songs together with great precision. The design of the LEGO model is based as much as possible on the original.

It has several playable functions: the USB stick can be inserted and removed from the socket, the tempo fader can be adjusted, and a CD can be inserted and ejected with the eject button. There are also two individual LED panels that can be swapped. On a panel, the waveform can be adjusted using the jog wheel, just like on a real record player; On the other panel, the music titles can be scrolled using the rotary knob. LEGO Ideas Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus Multi Player

While the Vintage Music Player and the Sony Walkman managed to cross the 10,000 mark again in the last review and are now awaiting feedback from the LEGO Ideas design team, with the Pioneer CDJ we have a contemporary form of music production. I think the idea is very well implemented with a lot of details and features. I'm not sure if the model has a chance, but let's wait and see!
