COBI 2559 Panzer VIII Maus

There is probably no other tank that has aroused more curiosity and interest in the entire history of mechanized armor than the Panzer VIII "MAUS". It is surrounded by an aura of mystery and the facts are mixed with the legends about its growth over the years. The Panzerkampfwagen VIII "MAUS" was a prototype German super-heavy tank of World War II. It was the heaviest and largest tank ever built. It weighed over 188 tons! The project was carried out in the years 1942-1944. Only two incomplete prototypes were ever built and never entered service. In April 1945, the Red Army captured both abandoned Maus prototypes, which were located on the Kummersdorf training ground. They were assembled into a vehicle using the hull from the first prototype and the turret from the second. This hybrid is still one of the main attractions of the Tank Museum in Kubinka near Moscow.
